Message From Chairperson

Greenwood School is a school where students are encouraged to utilize their individual talents to their fullest potential, while learning which approach to education best facilitates their learning styles.

Our school holds the philosophy that each student comes with strengths and talents that may or may not be evident to the child. Creating a safe learning environment where students will be able to flourish academically while boosting their self-confidence and self-image is essential for academic and social-emotional growth to take place. Individual strengths will be utilized as students are encouraged to learn beyond the ministries prescribed learning outcomes for their grade level, a multifaceted curriculum will be enriched with hands on learning and self-directed project work.

"A little child's mind is like garden! the seeds you plant there in grow either into weeds or flowers; and both are hard to dig out."
Joseph H. Peek.

The spirit of healthy competition gives rise to excellence. Keeping this in view, our effort is to generate healthy competition not only in academics but also debates, declamation and games too. We are proud of our achievements in all these domains.

The students of Greenwood are moving ahead scholars on a mission supported and guided by the deft hands of their teachers as mentors and the worthy guardians, to attain newer heights. There is a long journey to cover and I am sure, with valuable experience that the students will get at Greenwood, they would not only be able to excel in academics, sports and other co-curricular activities, but also imbibe trades like self-reliance ,compassion, humility and the spirit of independence. Remember, those who dream and reach the goals meticulously are the achievers. It is rightly said 'Great people don't do different things, they definitely do things differently.'

At Greenwood, efforts are made to enrich and widen the horizon of the children and provide them right values and Sanskar. in this endeavor for our student community, we expect the parents to be our co-partners for implementing this process of change and progress.

The Knowledge…students surely have pleasure to receive…,
The Mentors …are capable enough to make them believe…,

Computers are the wave of the future. The very concept of education is changing for many kids, as they experience self directed learning.

To generate the advanced technology in today's scenario, students are felicitated with the facilities of computer education. Our school has a Hi-Tech Computer Lab with internet connectivity. Our Computer Lab is equipped with Computers of latest technology with Multimedia, Scanner, Web Camera, Wide range of CD's on every topic.

GWPS students learn to use the computer at the earliest age and have weekly instruction and daily opportunities to increase their knowledge and skills. Right from Nursery onwards the children have hands on experience with computers. The use of ICT in our school helps children to use all their senses to extract the information. It fascinates kids and can draw their full attention, which often results in a deeper focus and concentration. Computers enable children to learn through creating, just as they gain hands on knowledge and understanding when they build forts, make up stories and paint, increase their skills. As they master computers, children build positive (attitude towards) technology that will pay dividends for the rest of their lives.

The School provides the education to the students by emphasizing on "Learning by doing". The school imparts the facilities of performing practical in Science Labs which are separately and exclusively constructed.

Our approach to learning involves, a process of exploring the natural or material world, and that leads to asking questions, making discoveries, and testing those discoveries in the search for new understanding.

Our hands-on science experiments mirror as closely as possible the enterprise of doing real science. We always use do-it-yourself approach to science. Science becomes "real" for those children who can put something together and watch, what it does. The School boasts of well equipped labs for Physics, chemistry and Biology.

The Mathematics Laboratory is one of the most advanced and unique facilities of the school. In order to facilitate the children to comprehend certain abstract concepts and to transform the so called tricky abstract and impractical subject into an interesting learning experience; it is desirable that it should be brought to concrete operational level where children can check and verify the validity of concept through activities and thus view maths close to life.

Our aim is to make math more pragmatic and interesting. Our emphasis is on process being more important than the product. It is well equipped with basic models to verify various concepts and theorems in maths. The children work in groups and are provided with small working units. They discover various concepts and facts by themselves thus giving them a feel of maths. The creativity of the students is allowed free play. They are encouraged to find alternative solution and alternative methods. Teachers and students work as joint investigating teams.

The lab is also quipped with computers to use technology for learning. Children see and prepare various power point presentation. They link maths with other subjects thus developing interdisciplinary thinking.

'A fully-pledged English Language lab is set up in the school for the development of English Language acquisition and communication skills, especially listening comprehension and speaking. The English Language Lab is a language workshop equipped with ultra modern sophisticated electronic and digital devices, language recorders & repeater software for improving pronunciation , audio/video discs, software based interactive CD-ROMS, all geared to:

  • Promote functional use of the English language with fluency in thought and elaboration skills
  • Provide oral / aural practice and feedback and self-critiquing.
  • Pave the way for a smooth transfer of book learning into meaningful communication.
  • The LCD projectors are used extensively to enhance the learning environment.
  • Headphones are used widely to improve the accent of the spoken language.

The school boasts of maintaining a well furnished library with books of all age group. Newspapers and magazines are provided in addition to a wide range of books which also include dictionaries, Encyclopedias, books on General Knowledge and year books.

The emphasis in all our branch is on reading. Whether it is books which relate to the curriculum or those which enhance the thinking and writing skills from an early age, our libraries boast of a wide variety of books on varied subjects. Books & multimedia resources on a variety of subjects procured from all over the world aims to help children rediscover the joy of reading and unfurl their mind. An extensive reference section helps children work on multidimensional projects.

The library is equipped with carefully selected latest magazines, periodicals and newspapers of international repute to keep the children updated with the world's current affairs.

The computer software handles all the database management. For easier accessibility books are arranged in various major categories like educational, fiction, science, maths etc. Internet facility is made available to tap the cyber world of knowledge. Opportunity Classes

Oppurtunity Classes

Student who cannot cope up in certain subject/s and due to which they are not able to show the required performance, are taken care of in a special manner by the school. Remedial teaching for such selective students is undertaken on every fourth Saturday and also every day after school hours for at least an hour by the subject teachers. These are extremely useful for removing individual weaknesses and clarifying doubts of students individually. Identified students' parents must ensure that their ward compulsorily attends the extra classes for attaining substantial benefits. In case a child misses the remedial classes a strict disciplinary action taken by the school administration authority.

School environmental management plans work across the key learning areas of the curriculum and the whole school community.

We start with local sustainability and over time develop student understanding of how their work contributes globally.

Students and staff manage, observe and monitor our school's resources, waste and physical surroundings, then take on activities to protect and improve our school and the local environment.

The child will develop an understanding about:

  • the relationship between human activities and natural systems
  • sustainable management of the earth's resources
  • the inter-related nature of processes in the natural environment

We encourage to support child's 'going green' activities, and to help them to learn to care for the environment as part of their everyday lives.
